When God Made Men , He Was Kidding - 1

This is a splendid re-assurance to all those who will expect to read a very preachy write-up about 'Feminism' that has been an ' eternally good ' debate topic over the years . NO ! I am not & nor have I ever been preachy .

Before I can pour out my views , just run through this conversation I over-heard [ unintentionally though ] at Coffee Day among a group of friends  [ healthy percentage of both boys and girls ] . Their conversation slowly slipped off into the  MEN vs WOMEN . Yours truly , here are their  dialogues :

Boy 1 :  Dude ! Look at that T Shirt quote on that person ! It read  Men are from earth . Women are   from earth . Deal with it .

Boy 2 : Classic ! So true . . Putting up with girls is hard ! Dude it is  pure science . In fact rocket-science or may be  even more complex !

[ And the boys begin laughing .. laughing loud enough to make all the others look at them in wry horror . The girls however were busy sipping-in their cold coffee  , uninterrupted  ]

Boy 3 : [The one who thought it was his moral responsibility to present his view point or else the world would end without it , you see ]  Look ! The trouble is  girls  dont know what they really want themselves .. That's blunt man ..Blunt !

[ And the boys-brigade get enough reason to kick start their constipated laughter riot all over again . This time people around are already used to it. That includes me. Who says our society is not tolerant ? ]

Boy 1 : Girls are just confused creatures and nothing else . They are just that  and  we have to deal with it . [ And I could sense the aura around him as he threw up these lines . He felt as if he was a saviour and has attempted the most invincible , incredible task ever ]

[ And here our girls break their silence . Finally ! Probably they finished their mugs of coffee . Look how composed they are . They heard the whole conversation without feeling any need to jump and justify . Now , they slowly counter them ]

Girl 1  : Excuse me , Guys ! The T-shirt quote also means that even WOMEN need to put up with MEN. After all you are not FLAWLESS creatures . In fact we take in more crap from men and still hold on.

Girl 2 : Yeah ! What's with this girls-are-confused theory ??! We are just  slow to give in  and slower to give up . That  is what accounts to our patience . Unlike guys ! They jump in and jump out like its nobody's business .

[ Probably there are only a very FEW exceptions to  universal thumb rule . Well , I feel the need to intervene as I consider myself the much-needed moderator here in this blog post . I did not really do it there though ! Come on , I dont fancy being an uninvited speaker ]

Boy 1 : Cut the crap , alright ! Come on you are sounding like Feminists ! Dont expect us to listen to
all that , Ok !

Boy 2 : Exactly !  This is something that makes you sound like medieval  feminist authors ....blah blah.. ...

The rest of the discussion is irrelevant to us . The boys changed the topic much to the girls' resistance  and began discussing about matters that match their intellect the best . Yes ! Their latest girl-friend (s) .  Peace !!  Amen !! Relieved ?!  But I am not !

This is where my  thinking began . I cant wait but let you all know what I think is so wrong with the very perception of men about FEMINISM . That is coming up in the next post .

Do let me know what comes to your mind when you think about this trivial yet considerable discussion  :) Waiting for your take !

  2. Very interesting post ! especially the part which highlights the composure of girls to finish their coffee to react to the comments of the boys was very intelligently written .

This amazingly shows control over mind and wit even when trying to fight back !
Just like a lioness contemplating to pounce on it's prey :)

Tats to my NGC adulation :P

  4. All this sounds so serious..
The debate on facebook was more light hearted...
Let me tell you my true view..
The world would be incomplete without both MEN & WOMEN.
Anyone who says , I am better on basis of gender , is nuts...

And its a little different in that quote..
Men are from Mars & Women are from Venus.
On Earth , we come to get married and live Happily ever after ;););)

    Gud thought !
The focus here is to understand the perception of feminism by men :) However you provided the standard cure - both men and women complete creation ! That i thought would come up in the next post ;) But you ought to read what I have to say about FEMINISM . Dont give up so fast :D

  6. It was easy for the men to call the women "feminists". I wonder how they would have felt if the women would have called them "Male Chauvinists"? But obviously, women are above such name callings and personal attacks.

  7. Yes I think this was an informative read, as to what ppl think which is difficult to find these days....and unless that is positively figured out further amicable solutions to this issues surely in my knowledge do not exist...but i am hopeful and do wish the best...ppl will evolve...i think just times are changing and mindset has more inertia...but eventually some equillibrium will be achieved...preferably soon

U hit the bull's eye ! That's the point I wanted to make [ in much detail though ]. Sheer lack of empathy from most men towards the ideals of feminism !

    @ Anonymous

This inertia is what I would attribute to existent chauvinist feeling [ even subtle in some cases ]. That's the catch ! The equilibrium will dawn bang-on if this feeling is nullified :) after all the world is flat right ?! :)

  9. Well, men used to inhabit Mars, you know, and women, Venus. One unfortunate day women invaded Mars, men fled from Mars and took shelter on Earth. What remains of Mars, NASA will suffice....destitution. Now women have followed men to Earth, after destroying Mars.

    SOS......SOS......SOS.......

:) Wo..U made scientific fiction out if it! Looks like you are in the same wave length of thinking like the boys in the discussion !
But hey , try being unbiased and just think where the balance was missing in the very psyche of those boys ! That is what I am trying to point out

  11. That's the turning point of this debate Vinutha -- being unbiased. And you should agree that the onus lies on all of us on both sides of the line. The crux is that we should understand R K Narayan when he said, "every individual differs from every other individual,....in outlook, habits and day-to-day philosophy." And I would add : irrespective of gender. Let us not group boys and girls like cattle.

    ReplyDelete
  12. :) Who is talking about grouping at all ??! The onus may lie on both sides of the line but the ' facts' cannot be changed ! The way men sense and react to feminism is markedly different from what it should ideally be ! The only thing that can be done is to accept it and try redefining it :)

  13. @Tinker belle Agreed.

People like that annoy me greatly. Men are not complete without women, and the same for women.. hence why relationships are formed. Its like, they're allowed to go on about what's wrong with women, but, as soon as we open our mouths, we're feminists. * rolls eyes *

Its almost impossible for men to relate and understand feminism in the same light as women does and women expect men to relate. Men can act that they do so, but it's simply not true. After all they are men, how wd they know women the way women does about themselves? That literally means for men, they give up their male identity, and that's detrimental to the normal man-woman relationship (be it whatever it is). Only if a person goes beyond the male-female duality would he/she wd be able to relate with the other sex as the other sex does about itself. (I mean "itself"). So these differences will remain :) for masses.

  24. A strange fact, but would you beleieve that there lies a woman in every man, and a man in every woman? The biological differences do not classify one feministic,or male-chauvinistic with some well-defined trait - but it is more about the subtlity, and the delicacy of woman that we often feel that they need to be dealt carefully, they need to be protected. It is the woman inside a man that think so. The complexities of any individual, men-women, are nothing, but could be costrued as the mechanism of one's self-defence.

  25. My apology, please read the biological differences as morphological differences. We usually classify man-woman on the basis of their morphological differecnes, deep down the biological need for man-woman is both the same, and the biological design is complementary in nature. There is no gap in the design, it so beutiful.
